I Love Summer

I tell ya, it's great alright. Not only is it heaven not to have to get up for seminary and sleep in, but my kids are happy and oh, so busy. MK loved EFY, girls' camp and now she is having an absolute ball at basketball camp. Mike did great on his high adventure trip up to Pennsylvania where he biked 200 miles with his buds. Laura has been a blast to have at home. The kids she nannies are sweeties and are over here lots. We sure will miss her when she leaves in August. Here are some of the sweaters I've been cranking out this summer: I'm also working on a couple of awesome quilts--no pictures yet as it is a work in progress ;) But these are the fabrics:

Those lazy hazy crazy days of summer

It's way too hot to do anything outside so we went and saw Inception this morning on the humongous I-Max screen at Tysons. It was crazy/insane and thought provoking to say the least. After the movie Laura and I ran over to the church to pick up MK from her 5 days at girls' camp. She LOVED it. She sat on the couch and told us about it for about an hour and then was out like a light for 5. She was WIPED. I have been amusing myself lately by constructing a faboo new quilt, knitting boo coo baby sweaters for babies in the ward, and working on indexing the 1905 Manhattan, New York census. It's fascinating and really fun. In an unrelated story--we had an earthquake here yesterday. How whack is that?

The Dog Days of Summer (already)

What the heck? It's only July 7th and the temperature on our deck for the past 3 days in a row has hit 106 degrees. I really shouldn't complain after last winter: 6 months later:MK's cilantro:And basil:We had such a nice Fourth! With Bruce and Mikey gone to scout camp it was just Laura, MK and me. We went to the Copan's for a fun cookout and then to our amazing hometown's fireworks. I love Vienna:)
Today I went here:
It was awesome as always:)

Toy Story 3

This is a must see! Laura, MK and I went to see it in 3D today. Definitely as good as Up if not better.

My July

Last weekend Mikey, MK and Bruce had a great time at Youth Conference in Kirtland. MK was was home for less than 2 days before she was off to EFY. On Saturday I will go and pick her up at 7:00 AM at SVU. Mikey and Bruce leave for Scout Camp that same morning at 11:00 (they might overlap with MK by an hour or so). Mikey gets home the following Saturday. The next Tuesday, MK leaves for girls camp. She gets home the following Saturday. Then the next Monday Mikey and Bruce leave for High Adventure (a 200 mile bike ride over 6 days through PA and MD). They'll be back on Saturday. That brings us to the last week in July when on that Monday MK starts a local basketball day camp and Mikey is off to EFY (also at SVU). A week off for everyone and then MK starts field hockey for Madison. If you think this is a crazy busy time, guess again! It's totally vacation time for me. The kids are away at camps having the time of their lives, no lunches to make, no carpools to run, no seminary to wake up for. It's heaven I tells ya! All I've been doing is knitting, quilting and doing family history work. And do I feel the least bit guilty? Heck no! Best thing about 4th of July weekend? Well after the Town of Vienna special events and fireworks and since Mikey and Bruce are usually at Scout Camp every year, I'll have to say it's the Leesburg Outlet sales. Ain't America great?
